Makrinitsa   

The village of Makrinitsa is located 11 km northwest of the city of Volos. Also known as the 'Balcony of Volos', offers an astonishing panoramic view of the city. Makrinitsa spreads at an altitude of 600 meters above mean sea level and is characterized by the traditional Pelion architecture with countless impressive mansions and cobbled streets.

In the famous central square of Agios Ioannis, you will find a spectacular fountain made of marble with sculptured reliefs dated at 1809, widely known as the «Immortal Water». In the  village you can identify more than 50 water fountains which were built mainly in the 18th century. Visit the community coffee house, where you can admire the fresco capturing the death of Katsandonis, made by the famous Greek painter Theofilos. Makrinitsa provides excellent tourist facilities mainly for winter sports but for alternative sports as well.
